Visitor Visas (B-1, B-2)
B-1, Visitor for Business: Admissible business activities are defined in the Foreign Affairs Manual. A B visitor cannot engage in employment and the visit must be of a temporary nature. Business activities should be incidental to work conducted overseas or to promote international trade or commerce.
B-2, Visitor for Pleasure: Includes tourism, social visits, health visits, and amateur performances in sports or entertainment events. It can be used for a non-spouse domestic partner regardless of gender.

Student Visas (F & M)
The student visa is required for full time course of study at an educational institution approved by the Government. The institution must be approved and registered under the new SEVIS system and comply with ongoing reporting requirements. F-1 visas are available for private secondary schools, but not public school unless for a period of up to 12 months and the full cost of tuition is reimbursed. It is also not available for publicly funded adult education programs, except for community or junior college, which charge full tuition.
